Not gonna lie...I really want that range.

Of course, I would only want it if we actually had purchased that restored 1915 Craftsman home that I truly wanted... *sigh*

[identity profile] prosodic.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, I want it for the looks. I'm sure the newer "vintage" models are much more functional, not to mention safer.

[identity profile] franklanguage.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Safer? You mean with that damn ratcheting noise it makes when you turn on the gas?

I have a 1950s Waterman with no pilot light—and yeah, it could suffocate me in my sleep if I were stupid enough to leave the gas on—and it's not even great looking, but it's solid as a rock, with fine gas control of the burners and the oven.

In truth, I use my small appliances far more than the range anyway; you can even bake cookies in the George Foreman grill.

A gas stove that turns itself on and off when you aren't there, sounds like a fantastic idea!

Exactly my thought too! "Automatically the gas turns on at the appointed hour..." Scary!

T'is a fine cookery for the galley, for certain.

I think if my husband called me and randomly announced he was bringing home six people for dinner tonight, it would be his ass on one of my fabulous new non-clog top burners.

[identity profile] weelisa.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Bwah-ha - so true. My response would be "oh, yeah? And what are you planning on making for them?"

[identity profile] amyangel96.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
True - though I was thinking "At least he called and asked..."

[identity profile] etinterrapax.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It's still nicer than the range I have now.

[identity profile] baron154.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
That was such a trope on 60's TV shows- "Honey, I'm bringing the boss home for dinner with 4 other people. Whip up a feast and it better be good, don't shame me again darling,my promotion and our futures depend on this crucial meal. We'll be there in an hour. Don't let me down!"

Sadistic.

only samantha on bewitched could really handle that.....

[identity profile] luke-russell.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I would KILL for six burners!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/___sloppyfirsts/ 2010-08-28 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Is it just me or do the handles on the front of the stove look sort of like gray mouths?

[identity profile] meezergal.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, that was my first thought too. :D

Exactly! Because women can be tricked that easily! :D

I've seen that stove in person. It's larger than it shows in the drawing. Be-YUU-ti-ful.

[personal profile] whoseline_wlsc 2010-08-28 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
I could go for a range that big. But "cooking a whole dinner while you're miles away" doesn't sound like a very good idea.

[identity profile] baron-waste.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)

Y' know, it wouldn't be too astronomically impossible to recreate that. It's not like we've lost the technology.

[identity profile] tydyehippo.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That stove looks flawless!!! I wonder if the oven is big enough to shove her husband in??

Magic Chef makes the BEST stoves. We had a gas one when I was little. One side of the oven door was held together with a hanger wire, but that thing could cook!!! I have a Magic Chef electric stove now.
