I'm going to go out on a limb here, and assume the kiddies are eating buns with the margarine on them, and not, you know, whole hunks of yellow margarine.

I'm curious - do you have a year/approximate date for this ad? I'm asking because the copy mentions a 'color packet', and I was wondering when margarine manufacturers stopped using them (and simply dyed the stuff yellow at the factory).

without the "color packet" wouldn't the margarine just be basically salty Crisco?

I've found ads mentioning the "color packet" dating from as late as 1949.
