Pimiento, peaches and onion in the same recipe? *barf*

[identity profile] restless-wings.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking the same thing! As if the picture wasn't enough to make me barf!

Eurgh, the cottage cheese + gelatin mixture wasn't unusual, but every time I see it, it makes me lose my appetite for far too long.

(I already have Issues with the texture, but then to combine it with gelatin?)

EEEEEEEWWWW this may be worse than the peas, salmon, and Jell-o terror. Maybe.

Onion and Peaches.
BLLLUAAAGHHHHHHHRBBBBAGHHHH
Fuck you, 1950s.

[identity profile] tamburlaine.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
ABSOLUTELY NOT.

NO.

NOOOOOOOOOO.

I don't think I'd mind the peaches/Jello, but with the other foods? Eeuw!

[identity profile] leoprincess.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I know what I'll be making the next time I want to trigger some diarrhea!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
What were they thinking? Who would eat this? This is just wrong on so many levels.

[identity profile] knifecollector.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Arrgh what the hell?! the ingredients are so random.

[identity profile] wistfuljen.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
PARTY LOAF. Yeah, it's just not a party unless you have peaches, onions, pimentos and celery mingling in a loaf of jello. Why not garnish it with Spam, just for kicks.

[identity profile] jena.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I would not have been able to attend any parties in the 1950s, apparently. Cottage cheese, gelatin, canned peaches, onions and celery... I cannot think of a more horrifyingly awful concoction off the top of my head... though I know they exist in more of these gelatin ads. So awful.

[identity profile] chicklet-girl.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'm fine with peaches in lemon jello. That sort of makes sense. BUT WHY GELATINIZE COTTAGE CHEESE TO GO WITH IT?

Thank you! I love how confused Angela looks. That's how I'd be if I worked with those characters. *g*

My guess is that a lot of this "party food" was for women to serve each other at luncheons or other daytime get-togethers. Add enough mai-tais, and you can eat just about anything... :/

[identity profile] poofy-boy.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Why, WHY did they put parsley and celery in EVERY SINGLE RECIPE? It boggles the mind. (This is supposed to be a DESSERT recipe, for cryin' out loud!) As for the rest of the ingredients, I'm not even going to go there... The Jello itself I just take for granted by now. Oh, and the name? "Loaf" immediately made me nauseous. Just... WTF.
